Blog What Is MV Labs Hero

Innovation doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It happens through experimentation, iteration, and most importantly, customer feedback. That’s exactly what MediaValet (MV) Labs is designed for.

MV Labs is a dedicated space where our product and engineering teams experiment with new ideas and emerging technology, and where customers get early access to features before they’re broadly released. Some Labs features are AI-powered, others focus on workflow efficiency or usability, but all are built to explore what’s next for digital asset management.

What Is MV Labs?

MV Labs is an experimentation and collaboration environment within MediaValet.

It allows customers to:

  • Explore emerging features early
  • Test new workflows and capabilities
  • Provide direct feedback to shape product direction
  • Measure real-world impact before features reach general availability

Labs features are intentionally marked as experimental. They may evolve quickly, change based on feedback, or never graduate to the core product, by design.

Who is MV Labs for?

MV Labs is designed for teams that want to stay ahead of how digital assets are created, discovered, and reused, without waiting for full product releases.

It’s especially valuable for:

  • Creative teams looking to experiment with faster discovery and reuse
  • Marketing teams validating AI-powered workflows before rolling them out broadly
  • IT and DAM administrators who want visibility into what’s coming next, without sacrificing security or governance

Why We Built MV Labs

MV Labs exists to create a faster, more transparent path between innovation and customer value. We’ve broken them into three different categories;

Innovation & Exploration

MV Labs gives our teams the freedom to test new ideas and push boundaries, without waiting for full production release cycles.

  • Early access to experimental features
  • A playground for innovation
  • A space to explore both AI-driven and non-AI capabilities

This approach helps us release value faster while showcasing MediaValet’s commitment to continuous innovation.

Early Access & Go-To-Market Momentum

MV Labs provides a structured way to surface promising features earlier in the product lifecycle.

  • Enables early demos and proof points
  • Helps validate value before broad release
  • Keeps pace with a fast-moving DAM market

By testing features sooner, we can strengthen GTM momentum and increase confidence for both prospects and customers.

Feedback & Product Fit

MV Labs is intentionally feedback-driven.

Customer usage and insights directly influence:

  • Feature design
  • Usability improvements
  • Graduation decisions

This ensures MediaValet continues to evolve based on how teams actually work, not assumptions.

Why does AI Experimentation Matter in Digital Asset Management?

AI is rapidly reshaping how organizations create, find, and reuse digital content; but not every AI capability is ready for full production deployment on day one. In digital asset management, where accuracy, governance, and trust are critical, responsible AI experimentation matters just as much as innovation itself.

That’s why experimentation within a controlled environment like MV Labs is essential.

Reducing Risk While Advancing Innovation

DAM systems sit at the center of brand integrity, compliance, and content governance. Introducing AI without testing can create risk, from inaccurate metadata to unintended asset exposure.

AI experimentation allows organizations to:

  • Validate accuracy and relevance before broad rollout
  • Observe how AI performs on real, proprietary content
  • Identify edge cases unique to their brand or industry

By testing AI-powered DAM features in Labs first, teams can explore innovation without disrupting live production workflows.

Designing AI Around Real User Behavior

AI in DAM is most effective when it reflects how people actually work, not how technology assumes they work.

Experimentation makes it possible to:

  • See how users interact with AI-powered discovery tools
  • Measure whether AI features truly reduce time spent searching and reworking assets
  • Gather direct feedback to improve usability and confidence

This feedback-driven approach ensures that AI capabilities evolve based on real-world DAM usage, not theoretical models.

Ensuring Trust, Governance, and Security

For AI to succeed in DAM, it must operate within the same DAM security, permissions, and governance frameworks as the rest of the platform.

AI experimentation helps confirm that:

  • Existing access controls and SSO remain intact
  • AI features don’t expand or bypass permissions
  • Governance standards are maintained as capabilities evolve

This is especially important for regulated industries and enterprise organizations where trust and compliance are non-negotiable.

Moving From Hype to Proven Value

AI is everywhere, but not all AI delivers meaningful value. Experimentation allows teams to move past buzzwords and focus on measurable outcomes.

Through AI experimentation in DAM, organizations can:

  • Test whether AI improves asset discovery and reuse
  • Evaluate efficiency gains before full adoption
  • Decide which capabilities are worth scaling

Only the AI DAM features that demonstrate real impact, reliability, and adoption will graduate beyond Labs, ensuring MediaValet’s AI roadmap remains practical, customer-led, and outcome-driven.

Who has Access to and Eligibility for MV Labs

MV Labs feature availability is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary by feature. Some Labs features can be enabled for many customers, while others may not be suitable depending on library configuration, governance requirements, or how a customer has chosen to set up their DAM.

  • Labs features can be enabled for your library or org unit
  • Admins can enable/ disable Labs features at any time by emailing Support at [[email protected]].
  • Access can be requested through your Account Manager or Support team

FAQs about MV Labs

MV Labs features are experimental by design. They may evolve quickly, change based on feedback, be paused/removed, or graduate to General Availability.

You can find the latest MV Labs updates in the MV Labs section of our Help Center, and by subscribing to the MV Labs newsletter.

Access is granted on a feature-by-feature basis and may vary depending on prerequisites and your DAM setup. To request access, contact your Account Manager or Support with your library details and the specific Labs feature you’d like to try.

You can, but we recommend piloting with a subset of users first. Because Labs features may change, a controlled rollout is the best way to validate impact before broader adoption.

Use the Give Feedback form within your MediaValet DAM. For urgent issues or troubleshooting, contact Support

MV Labs features are included during the Labs trial period for participating customers. If a Labs feature graduates to General Availability, its packaging and availability may change. Your Account Manager can help you understand options for your plan.
