Next Tuesday, on November 15, be prepared for drop shots, sidespins, smashes and kills as the MediaValet team shows off our mad ping pong skills at the third annual charity tournament, TechPong! We have been honing our strike technique and are ready to compete!
TechPong is a fun and entertaining ping pong tournament with a much deeper meaning. Local Vancouver companies, Chimp and Unbounce, host the event and invite the Vancouver tech industry to participate in an unforgettable opportunity to raise money for the causes and charities that mean most to them. Last year the event raised $142,000 for a combination of local and Syrian refugee charities.
TechPong was conceived as a fun way to give back to communities by supporting charities that do incredible work. Basically, 30 Vancouver tech companies strives towards fundraising goals, and when they reach that target, they are invited to play at TechPong. Companies send their best ping pong player for singles and doubles teams to compete. Each player participates with the hope of winning the coveted “prize purse” of charitable money, which they then give to their charity of choice.
Here at MediaValet, many of our friends, families and partners have been touched by the reality of cancer, and this year, we have chosen the BC Cancer Foundation as our charity. The BC Cancer Foundation is a key fundraising partner of the BC Cancer Agency and is historically the largest funder of cancer research in B.C. What’s amazing about the partnership between these two organization is that they combine research with treatment and have significantly shortened the length of time from cancer diagnosis to treatment for patients across the province.
If you’re in Vancouver next Tuesday evening, we invite you to come share the fun – and be prepared to be amazed by our All-Star ping pong team!
