Brand USA Selects MediaValet to Manage 50 Terabytes of HD Video in the Cloud

  • 3 min read

We’ve been bursting at the seams to tell you this news. Today, we’re excited to officially announce that Brand USA, the destination marketing organization charged with promoting the United States to the world, selected us to manage all their marketing assets.

With that global responsibility, you can just imagine the amount of marketing activities they do every week. To support those activities, they have a vast library of digital assets – 50 TBs to be exact! To give you an idea of the scope of this work, 50 TBs is the same amount as the Library of Congress – TIMES FIVE. Yup, we have our work cut out for us but we are more than ready. We’ve actually already started working on the onboarding process for Brand USA and so far it’s been smooth sailing.

What is Brand USA?

Established in 2011, Brand USA is spearheading the nation’s first global marketing effort to promote the Unites States as a premier travel destination and to communicate U.S. entry/exit procedures to worldwide travelers. Working in close partnership with the travel industry and through its public web site – DiscoverAmerica.com – the organization’s goal is to attract international tourism and maintain a vibrant tourism industry.

What did they need from MediaValet?

Brand USA looked to MediaValet to deliver a massively scalable, globally accessible, and highly secure digital asset management system that can easily handle over a hundred terabytes of high definition media assets, and allow thousands of users from around the world to access and share them through an intuitive user interface.

When Brand USA conducted their search for a system to manage all of their assets, they had already decided it had to be cloud-based. On top of this main criterion, they also needed the new system to:

  • easily and cost effectively scale beyond 50 TBs,
  • to manage user access and asset usage permissions,
  • to allow administrator to approve all assets before being made available to users,
  • to enable assets to be simultaneously uploaded from various international locations,
  • to offer powerful search and filter capabilities via keywords, embedded meta data, file names, file extensions, file types, asset ratings, asset rights.

In today’s news release, Mark Lapidus, Brand USA’s Director of Digital and Social Media, commented:

“Managing digital assets seems like a simple process, but it’s really more complex than just ‘parking’ your videos and photos in folders. With 50 TBs and thousands of users worldwide, we knew this would further complicate the process. To succeed, it would take a DAMS partner with the infrastructure and experience to support not only our massive library and worldwide access and security needs, but also provide a simple and intuitive user experience with the training and customer support needed to ensure all our users are happy. MediaValet met all these needs and is well positioned to meet our future requirements.”

We’re thrilled to be part of the Brand USA team!
