Now that Rob has stepped into his Chairman shoes, we thought it was time to get to know him a little better. So we asked him to tell us a bit more about himself – beyond all the corporate stuff:
After a rewarding career with Deloitte (including 18 months in Sydney Australia where he learned to surf), building Absolute Software into one of the most successful B2B Enterprise Software-as-a-Service companies in Canada, making the Top 40 under 40 list, and helping PNI Media achieve their potential and sell to Staples, Rob decided to leave the full-time executive ranks in 2014 to spend more time with his family, surfing, and helping one or two select companies (from a Director perspective) pursue their potential.
Now that Rob has more time on his hands, he has uncovered some hidden talents. Turns out that he’s pretty damn good at beach art, can fix almost anything with duct tape and a rubber band, and is a bit of taco-king (his 5 and 8 year old boys can almost eat their body weights in his tacos!).
He’s also been on a mission to see if he can get sick of surfing. In the past 9 months, he’s gone surfing for 3 months in Tofino, a few weeks in Cost Rica and a couple weeks in Kauai, and he is still just as stoked on surfing as ever.  Turns out that his two boys and wife are just as stoked as him. Good thing since his secret mission is to surf the top 50 surf spots in the world, and he still has about 25 to go. Could this be a life-long illness?
Other unknowns – he is often ridiculed by his 8 year old son when he tries to speak French, loves to play guitar and sing (to his wife’s chagrin!), and is on a mission to find the best coffee shops in every city he goes to.
